Descripcion:

Formado en julio de 1996, el grupo mexicano Ágora vio la luz tomando la bandera del Rock progresivo, uno de los estilos que ha exigido el virtuosismo de sus intérpretes desde su advenimiento en los años 70's. Gracias a esta particular condición en México el panorama para el desarrollo de dicha corriente ha sido pobre optando sólo algunos por inscribirse en un movimiento cuyas raíces se encuentran profundamente arraigadas en el ámbito del rock europeo. La errada descripción de los géneros ha etiquetado al estilo progresivo como el de "rock sinfónico", alejándose de la realidad y de las múltiples formas que ofrece actualmente esta música. El rock Progresivo, cómo su nombre lo dice, es aquel que juega con múltiples variables armónicas denominadas "Progresiones". Por está sencilla la cantidad de combinaciones melódicas y armónicas, al igual que las rítmicas se convierten en un universo sónico en donde se da cabida a diferentes fusiones y sonoridades que hacen de esta música la más rigurosa en cuanto a destreza y la más libre en cuanto a composición. Esta sencilla razón es suficiente para entender que el rock progresivo no ha sido estático y que ha evolucionado con el paso de las décadas. Es en este marco que Ágora irrumpe dentro de la escena del rock mexicano con una espectacular propuesta mezclando las típicas progresiones que le dieron nombre al estilo con ritmos latinoamericanos y el neoclásico, ejecutando con pulcritud y virtuosismo sus originales composiciones.

Ágora ha tenido la suerte de ser invitado como grupo abridor para diversas bandas internacionales como Deep Purple (Inglaterra), Helloween (Alemania), Stratovarius (Finlandia), Tierra Santa (España), Rata Blanca (Argentina), Medina Azahara (España), Radio Kaos (Chile) y Edguy (Alemania), entre muchos otros. Asimismo, ha participado en la máxima fiesta rockera de nuestro país, el Festival Vive Latino.
